SR. RESEARCH SCIENTIST / RESEARCH SCIENTIST
Position Summary
In general, the successful candidate will fulfill a Research
leadership role in understanding how consumers respond to
product information from a sensory, behavior or emotional
standpoint, to enhance the sensory experience and ultimately
the success of product offerings. This position will include
using a variety of methodologies to link product acceptability
and choice to objective product characteristics. Accordingly,
the candidate should have a background in Sensory Science
or Cognitive/Experimental Psychology and a demonstrated
ability to implement scientific methods.
Position Responsibilities
- Lead consumer research strategy to
produce insights for Skin Care/Cleansing category
- Interface with individuals across functions
to ensure project success
- Design and analyze results using the
latest quantitative and qualitative techniques
- Produce clear and actionable interpretation
of research results
- Conduct fundamental sensory/consumer
research to impact next generation products
- Report research in peer-reviewed journals
Challenges
- Develop new research methodologies
for perception and/or consumer research
- Balance scientific rigor and project/practical
constraints
- Manage multiple projects and prioritize
to meet project timelines
- Sensitive to cultural and organizational
differences-able to adapt effective communication styles
to ensure smooth interactions with international colleagues
Skills
- Strong quantitative sensory/consumer
research skills including experimental and exploratory
design and analysis
- Experience with a variety of ways to
study human sensory perception and analyze results
- Experience with approaches and models
tuned to human perception (e.g., Thurstonian, Signal Detection
Theory) is a plus
- Qualitative research skills are a plus
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- MS or PhD in Sensory Science, Consumer
Research, Experimental/Cognitive Psychology, or a related
field
- Two or more years of experience in
industry setting is a plus
