Senior Sensory Scientist – Consumer Science to £35k+ Bonus, Healthcare and Pension

My client is a blue chip FMCG company; they are looking for us to recruit a senior sensory analyst to join their Sensory and Consumer evaluation team.

Senior Sensory Scientist in the Consumer Science group is responsible for influencing and guiding R&D teams and their business partners for the areas of consumer science in projects on a local and international basis.

You will be participating in innovation of methods and tools as well as applications as part of the local Consumer Science team and interact with the Global Consumer Science organisation. You will be responsible for increasing awareness of the consumer science capability and breadth/depth of output as well as coaching and developing technical skills of others in the Consumer Science team.

You will be responsible for implementing Consumer & Sensory testing, day to day you will work with project partners from R&D and Marketing. You will select appropriate methodology and procedures and implements individual tests or studies as required by test/business objective.

You will be responsible to conduct Consumer & Sensory studies utilising appropriate techniques as required by defined objective (sensory tests: discrimination tests, descriptive tests - consumer tests: quantitative test, hybrid sensory/quantitative techniques, qualitative techniques), and using available support (technicians, temp. Staff, etc...).

You will conducts data compilations and statistical evaluation using the available software and interpret the results, report findings in written form and discuss findings in meetings.

Qualifications required

Scientific background. Degree in food science and technology, food and nutrition, natural sciences or other scientific degrees.

Skills in aspects of quantitative consumer testing and/or sensory evaluation, data processing, statistical analyses, plus verbal and written communication skills.

The ability to work with a wide variety of technical and non-technical people, and ability to train, develop and motivate personnel in a multi-cultural environment.

A good depth of expertise and experience in the field of quantitative consumer testing and/or sensory evaluation.
