Day 1 (Optional) introduction to the Statistics and XLSTAT routines needed to analyse and explore consumer trial data. In the afternoon we discuss the issues regarding conduct and product and questionnaire design to ensure a successful trial to measure Liking or Emotion responses. It is possible to join the course on day 2.

Day 2 teaches Demographic analyses, Penalty analysis, analysis of CATA and RATA data, segmentation, internal preference mapping, and how to obtain a contour surface mapping liking across the sensory space

Day 3 shows how to fit external preference mapping, ideal point analysis and use the results to set up optimum profiles of sensory or emotion responses.

Mainly based around the use of XLSTAT, attendees will gain practical experience using real-life examples and will be able to save their work to take away, so they will be competent to start using their expertise from day 1 after the course. (There is an option to purchase XLSTAT -Sensory at a discounted price.)

It will also be possible to attend this course from the comfort of your home or office using the Virtual Training Room Facility.

ABOUT THE LECTURER

Thierry Worch is a statistician by training, with experience in the areas of product assessment and consumer research. His PhD was on the ideal profile method in consumer research and he is a regular speaker at sensory and consumer conferences. He is also an expert in using R and is co-author of the book “Analysing Sensory Data using R”. He currently works as a consultant and trainer for Qi Statistics Ltd.
