This course forms a hands-on introduction
to those statistical methods needed by a sensory and consumer
scientist. Mainly based around the use of XLSTAT, attendees
will gain practical experience using real-life examples
and will be able to save their work to take away with
a free copy of XLSTAT and XLSTAT-MX so they will be competent
to start using their expertise from day 1 after the course.
Attendees will also receive a 3 month license for Design
Express - the powerful QI Statistics consumer trial design
software and a number of specialised Excel spreadsheets.
ABOUT THE LECTURERS
Dr. Hal MacFie is a statistician by
training, with an international reputation in the areas
of product assessment and consumer research. Author of
over 100 scientific publications and three books, he was
Head of Consumer Science at the Institute of Food Research,
Reading England, before becoming Director of the Institute.
Dr. MacFie is now an independent consultant, Visiting
Professor at Reading and Nottingham Universities and European
Editor of Food Quality and Preference.
Jeehyun Lee is a PhD student majoring
Sensory Analysis at Kansas State University. She acquired
graduate certificate in applied statistics. She has dealt
with data from both research and industry. She has many
translating experience in the Sensory Analysis and Statistics.
***Most lectures will be taught by Dr.
Hal MacFie and then translated into Korean by Jeehyun
Lee if necessary. Both lecturers will be available to
help you while you work on hands-on exercise.***
